Mamas for Mamas Kitchener/Waterloo Branch began in January 2019. This Branch was created to help reduce poverty cycles, support mamas and reduce our environmental footprint by providing mamas with a hand up with free material goods. The goal is to improve the overall quality of life and ensure that no mama or child is ever left behind.
Over the last two years of being in the community, we have had such an outpour of volunteers that we have been able to add a team of resource coordinators who work closely with mamas who are falling between the cracks and need additional support outside of what our Facebook community can provide; they work closely with other agencies in our community to connect them with services and support.
We have a wonderful donations team who coordinates pick up, drops offs of all of our donations and works closely alongside other organizations to help fill their shelves. It is clear that much more support is needed in our community around food security, mental health, dental and eye care. Our goal is to continue to work alongside the community as a collective to help fill gaps and reduce poverty.
While we are working diligently towards obtaining a physical location, we are solely online at this time.
I believe that when we empower mothers and families, we make the future brighter. $2 from every item sold is donated to Mamas for Mamas, a Canadian charitable organization that supports mothers and caregivers in crisis by providing ongoing support to individuals and families facing various poverty-related struggles.
Anytime our Mamas for Mamas box is purchased it is delivered to a mom in need within our community. The community support we receive helps fulfil our mission that no mama or child is left behind.
We have partnered with Bloomm Agency and created a campaign to raise funds and collect upopened menstrual products to ensure no Mama has to worry about their basic needs.
